My pregnancy journey (Baby project V - Sensory book)

Did you know that babies are learning more in their first 3 years during the rest of their lives? This is a very busy time for them. There are a lot of windows of opportunity where they develop certain behaviours. The best way to stimulate their brain is through play at this age. Of course, toys and books are perfect. But don't rush to the toy store just yet. You can make them for your baby yourself.

I am back with project V! Finally get this cloth book done. Inspiration came from an introduction to a multi-sensory room by a close friend back at hometown.

The pages were created by felt and cotton fabric mostly, with some other materials used in the designs for sensory effects. I inserted pieces of plastic in between some of the pages to give some sound (sensory) effect. This is a sensory book for our baby to explore different textures and materials and it's super easy to make and you probably have many of the supplies you need already at home.

Please do remember though, some of the smaller items that I used here, such as buttons are obviously choking hazards, so, I made sure I sew them tightly or glued them down REALLY well!

Without further ado, let's go through the pages:

I incorporated one ziplock bag to store the puzzle pieces. Baby can learn keeping them in the bag and zip it.

Left: Puzzle with velcro
Right: Crinkly (touch) and sound effect

Left: Vitamin bubble pack (Since I have to take prenatal vitamins, I have a lot of this! :P), bubble wraps and net-like rubber thing I cut out from an old pencil case.
Right: Loops

Left: Pipe cleaner. I made sure glued down the end where the wire is.
Right: Press buttons

Left: Buttons with a string to go around the buttons
Right: Zip

This page of frog took me the longest! My favourite page!

While baby learns, we can give her the words to describe what she's seeing and feeling.

I can't wait to play with our baby already!
