The other day, had a lot of fun experimenting new tie-dye method with little sister. We found this method through youtube.
It's really very easy and very fast as compared to the conventional tie-dye.
We went for cloth and sharpie markers shopping and bought back a few white scarfs and a pack of colourful markers. Also, another important item required is rubbing alcohol. Washed and dried the scarfs. Covered our tabletop with book wrap to prevent the marker ink from sipping through the other side. Using desired marker colours, we started vandalising the scarfs. Next is the fun and magic part! Using spray bottle, we started spraying the alcohol on our drawing. Note: Do wear a face mask if you are allergic to alcohol. The more alcohol used, the further the ink will spread and the larger the design will be. We tried different angles for different feel. Once we were satisfied with our design, we let the scarfs dry completely under the fan. Alcohol evaporates, so the drying process was quick. To set the colour, we applied a hot iron on the design. Then we washed the scarfs.
Note: make sure to wash separately because some colour might come off and stain your other clothes!
This effect of this method is definitely not as perfect as the effect given by conventional tie-dye, but it's definitely fun and therapeutic.
You can learn this through youtube.
Have fun!
